1. Palm test

You just have to put one teaspoon of ghee on your palm and wait a few minutes. If you notice the ghee melting, you have pure cow ghee. Pure ghee starts melting when it comes in contact with body temperature.
2. Ghee purity test for vegetable oil
Ghee is often adulterated with vegetable oil. You can test for vegetable oil by taking a little bit of ghee in a transparent bottle and adding sugar to it. If you notice the colour at the bottom of the bottle changes to red after shaking it, your ghee is adulterated.
3. Heat test
Not sure about how to test the purity of ghee? You can just perform the heat test. It is one of the easiest and most common ghee purity tests. You have to add a little bit of ghee to a pan and heat it. Pure cow ghee will start melting almost immediately and turn brownish. However, adulterated ghee will take time to melt and turn yellowish.
4. The starch test
Starch is used by many sellers for adulterating ghee. The ghee purity test for starch is easy. Melt some ghee first, and then add a few drops of iodine. If you notice the colour changing to purple, your cow ghee is adulterated with starch.
5. The rancid ghee test
You will have to perform the HCI test to ensure that your cow ghee is not adulterated with rancid ghee like vanaspati ghee. HCI is the acid present in your stomach for digesting food. Heat a teaspoon of ghee in a vessel and add a teaspoon of HCI to it. Put a pinch of sugar in the vessel and shake well. If you notice the colour changing to pink or red, your ghee is adulterated.
